New book: The best stories on Andermatt

What makes Andermatt and the Urseren Valley so special? Authors from Central Switzerland look at the past, present and future of the promising region in 16 chapters.

Queen Victoria and Goethe came here, as did the Russian General Suworow and Sean Connery, alias James Bond. Where pack drivers once passed over the Gotthard, today high-speed trains hurtle beneath it. Downhill ski legend Bernhard Russi is still the local star while Samih Sawiris is breathing new life into this ‘energy hot spot’. The open-mindedness of these parts is also expressed on the plate: many ingredients and names of mountain recipes come from the neighbouring south. There’s certainly something special about Andermatt and the people of the Urseren Valley – from a historical, touristic, cultural and culinary point of view. And this wants to be discovered and enjoyed by both visitors and locals alike.

Lifa Verlag in Lucerne presents the richness of the area in the new book “Andermatt” – warm, amusing and with many interesting pictures. Excursion tips included!

The book is published in English and German.
